NYCB Fall Gala

The fashion world decided to begin the fall season with a bang, or should i say, PLIE!

This year, on September 19, the New York City Ballet hosted the New York’s Fall Gala. With extraordinary designers like Oliver Theyskens, Iris van Herpen, and Prabal Gurung creating the ballet performer’s costumes, it is obvious that they made it a priority to not be forgotten amongst the celebrity guest list. World renowned choreographers Angelin Preljocaj, Benjamin Millepied, and Justin Peck will present original work to the world in dances filled with grace, poise and power.

Not looking to be overshadowed, celebrities graced the red carpet dressed to the nines in some of the most beautiful designer pieces. Remember everyone, it doesn’t matter if everyone there is an artist in their own form, fashion is what makes you the star of the night.

Natalie Portman, “Black Swan” actress, was renowned as one of the best dressed of the night. With a dress designed by Brittney Stephens it doesn’t take much for a person to question that title.

Sarah Jessica Parker, “Sex and the City” actress, came on to the red carpet dressed in a light pink silk dress with a geometric sweetheart neck line. If I’m being honest, I am torn between love and despising this dress; the dress looks stunning, but just may be a little to young for her age.

Hamish Bowles, famed Fashion Journalist, switched roles at the Gala and was the now the point of interest. Dressed in a well fitted, though slightly loose, tuxedo; Bowles sparked up the outfit with a lavender bow tie. Question is though? Will he ever grow back his iconic mustache?

The NYCB Fall Gala was a night filled with beauty. Beautiful people. Beautiful designs. Beautiful dances. With a night such like this, where beauty takes center stage, it is easy to forget the true beauty of this night. It’s the beauty of one group of artist coming together to support another; actors and actress, singers and musicians, coming to support the dancers of the New York City Ballet.

I give the dancers all of the support in the world and would like to wish upon them a successful and beautiful season.
