I will be the first to admit, that as a young woman, there is always a part of me that believes in fairytales; believes in the good knight saving the princess, believes in the kindness of one person making a difference in the world, and belief that everything happens for a reason. Fairytales are a major influence in young girl’s growth and lives, and though we come to realize that fairytales are stories, there will always be a part of use that tries to hold onto the belief that they are true.
What I always enjoyed most about fairytales wasn’t the romance between the prince and princess, the talking animals, or even the princesses’ gowns; but it was the setting. I know strange, huh? There I was, a little girl focused more on the castles and cobblestone streets in the background then I was of the actual character.
Those settings were beautiful, and when I dreamed of my life as a fairytale, I never dreamt of a prince or a tiara; I only dreamed to live in those towns.
I would have been happy as a baker’s daughter!
But as usual, a person must grow up and realize that life is not a fairytale. That the gum and urine filed streets on NYC will never be clean cobblestone and that skyscrapers will never become castle.
I thought that places that looked like those old fairytales no longer existed. I am glad to say that I was wrong. During the time when I was planning a trip to Europe, I came across a town called Prague, which is located in the Czech Republic. This town looks like it was hand picked out of my Cinderella book and dropped in the heart of Europe. These are just a few of the things that I plan to do when I have the chance to visit Prague. Hope you all enjoy!
