The Brooklyn Museum, from October 25, 2013- February 23, 2014, will be presenting a grand piece of fashion’s history for all to to see.
The very first, and only, international exhibit that will bring the spotlight onto the French born high couture designer will be displayed in the Brooklyn museum for a limited time only. Titled, The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From The Sidewalk To The Catwalk, this exhibit is rumored to be an inspirational and beautiful piece.
Showcasing the French designer’s journey into the fashion industry through the time of when he was a “no body” (Honestly, I can’t bring myself to believe that he was ever a nobody), this exhibit will not be showcasing any of his recent runway designers. Rather, the creators wanted to bring his past forward, and not have the distractions of his Fall and Spring 2013 Fashion Show; if fashion lovers wanted to see his latest designs then they could have watched them during fashion week or read an issue of Vogue.
On display will be six thematic sections, which move from fashion to pop culture. Including film, dance, and concert costumes, such as Madonna’s iconic bra and corsets from the 1990 Blonde Ambition World Tour and his appearances in Eurotrash and Absolutely Fabulous.
This exhibit is fashion at it’s more natural form, for it shows the needle and thread, rather then the model worn piece.
Located on 200 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn 11238, this exhibit to free to all Brooklyn Museum admission.
