Being an avid drinker of coffee, and yes, even when the media was playing ping pong in whether or not drinking coffee was good for you. I have always just felt that it was easier to make my own pot of joe at home, rather then buy a cup at the local Starbuck or Dunkin. The decision has always been a no brainer to me. By making it at home I save money, save time from not having to wait on line, and it always comes out perfect because there’s no risk of a person putting unwanted sugar in my coffee.
But there is another thing that I have found since becoming an avid coffee drinker, and that is, the used coffee grounds that you find after the coffee has been brewed. Unknown to some, possibly many, those coffee grounds have some great beauty tricks.
- Reduce Cellulite
Take three part coffee grounds and one part olive oil and rub it on your cellulite. This is best done in the shower because of the steam.
- Darken Your Hair
Take newly brewed coffee grounds and rub them into your hair. Let it sit in for at least two hours and then wash out.
- Exfoliate Your Face
Take a half a cup of coffee grounds, two tablespoons of olive oil, one teaspoon of honey and massage it on your face. Rise with warm water.
- Add Shine To Hair
Next time you are in the shower, rub coffee grounds into your hair and then rise out thoroughly. It is best if you do this after the shampoo, but before the conditioner.
- Get Rid of Smells
Coffee grounds are a natural deodorizer, meaning that they help get rid of unwanted odors. Simply rub coffee grounds on the place that smells, such as hands after chopping garlic.
So before you go and throw out your coffee grounds, stop and use them for your own beauty routine. Because, like my nana says, “Everything’s better if it came from the ground.”
