New Orleans is a great city, located in Louisiana, that is the place to go when you want to eat great food, have a nightly adventure, or meet some marshmallow loving raccoons.
It’s unfortunate that New Orleans made it’s first real splash into the main stream media because of it’s destruction brought on my hurricane Katrina. Sure, the majority of people have heard of New Orleans before, but it was mostly seen as this almost far away, fairy tale type of land. With New Orleans’s biggest “come hither” attraction being the chance to see some drunken college girls take off their shirts for some beaded necklaces, the city was never seen as a power house attraction for anyone who weren’t those drunken college kids.
But in an positive turn of events, it seems as though the people of New Orleans have actually turned the hurricane’s destruction into something positive. They have created New Orleans into a Phoenix; it rose from the ashes more glorious then before it caught fire. After the hurricane’s destruction was rebuilt, an action that gained New Orleans media, the city was smart and used their strengths to gain new travelers. Because, lets face it, drunken college kids are never good tippers when leaving a bar. Trust me, I’m friends with most of them and see how most drunken kids will leave a single penny as a joke tip.
New Orleans have been making it’s mark as a top travel destination in the United States. It stands in fifth place, only coming after New York City, Long Beach, Nashville, and Miami as places to visit in the states. The city has been making itself more known with it’s various appearances on Food Network and Travel channel, having some of their best restaurants featured. New Orleans have also been luring in the younger crowd with the Disney movie, The Princess and the Frog, and the show, The Originals, both of which are focused in New Orleans.
