Natural Makeup

Beauty sure has come a long way since the days of lining your eyes with black lead in ancient Egypt and smearing white lead on your face in the Elizabethan era. What’s with this lead, anyway?

But, as good as it is for beauty products to no longer come with a death sentence attached to them, many people say that it’s still not good enough. Discovery after discovery have been made, recently, revealing the harm of even good ol’ fashioned lipstick. You know, the kind of lipstick you buy in your local drug store and consider it your ‘lucky first date weapon’? Ya, that one…

An article in The Guardian, written by Rachel Williams, states…

It’s enough to put you off your six-step moisturizing routine. Rat poo, arsenic, cyanide and even human urine are all among the not-so desirable substances that have been found in fake perfumes and makeup being sold online in increasing quantities, police have warned.

Last year, the City of London’s Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit dismantled a criminal operation suspected of importing and selling counterfeit goods, seizing a shipping container full of what they believe to be more than 4,700 counterfeit versions of one of the UK’s most popular beauty brands – with products including foundation, bronzer, lip gloss, eye shadow and eyebrow pencils.

Sounds great, doesn’t it? I’m in my car getting ready to drive to the mall to get me some rat poo filled lipgloss. Who’s with me?!

No? No one? I didn’t think so. So here are some of the makeup industries best, and most beloved, all-natural makeup brands. Why can’t all makeup be like this? *Sigh*
