Known for her love of patterns, bold colors, and her ability to create ‘East Meets West’ outfits, Anna Sui is an icon of the fashion world.
Born in Detroit, Sui was named as one of the “Top Five Fashion Icons of the Decade” in 2009 and was given the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), thus joining the fashion ranks of Valentino, Donna Karan, and Giorgio Armani.
Now Ana Sui will embark on her next journey in the fashion world.
Showcasing more than 20 years of clothing and accessories designed by Sui, the Fashion and Textile Museum in London has recently opened “The World of Anna Sui” exhibit, giving museum-goers the chance to see some of Sui’s most iconic pieces over the years.
Vogue writes, “A cleverly staged retrospective of Anna Sui’s fashion legacy to date, it’s an experience that is as immersive as it’s comprehensive – not to mention nostalgic for the designer herself.”
Anna Sui is the first American fashion designer to be honored in a U.K retrospective.
Similar to Sui’s fun and eccentric style, “The World of Anna Sui” is filled with colors – the exhibit is made up of purple backdrops and red platforms – and mannequins that donned with Sui’s best and most memorable outfits.
“The World of Anna Sui” consists of 12 style-themes (Anna Archetype): retro, American, surfer, punk, Victorian, mod, nomad, schoolgirl, grunge, androgyny, fairytale, and hippies.
